Looking for a way to start memorizing whole chapters of scripture? Why not try one of the Psalms below? We recommend working on one line at a time, but sticking this card somewhere you’ll see it regularly to make meditation and review easy (like a bathroom mirror, kitchen sink, even a laminated/ziplocked copy in your shower.)
Want to help your kids memorize an “entire” chapter of the Bible? Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in scripture, but a treasure to meditate on and have stored away. “Praise the Lord, all nations” … “Laud him, all peoples”…. “His lovingkindness is great towards us” … If you want to keep it simple, start here.
We’ve included the entire Psalms of Degrees (also called the Psalms of Ascents), and these Psalms are a treasure. Many have said these are the Psalms the Israelites sang as they returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the house of God, after many years in captivity, and you can especially see in the Psalms a heart for God’s house, for God’s people, and the keeping hand of the Lord through so many trials. Some of them, like Psalm 121, Psalm 127, Psalm 130, and Psalm 133, are likely already somewhat known, which should make them easier to memorize. We’ve also included a keyword/theme for each Psalm based on the book, “The Songs of Degrees” by Stephen Kaung, where he connects each of these 15 Psalms with one theme, like “Keep” (Psalm 121) or “Build” (Psalm 127). We have also used a bold font to note the theme word letters throughout the verse.
